In June of 2019, Fire Safe Sonoma held its first workshop to provide the tools and information local community groups need to start their own fire safe council. This is the first workshop of its kind in Sonoma County and intended to emulate one the California Fire Safe Council is developing.
Caerleon Safford, a consultant regularly used by Fire Safe Sonoma championed the workshop. Safford was also the primary speaker at the event.
The event included short presentations by David Shew, a Consultant for Wildfire Defense Works, LLC, and by Tracy Katelman, Executive Director of the California Fire Safe Council, who provided valuable “golden nuggets’ of information to the attendees.
The event, attended by an unexpected audience of 38 people, including 10 “walk-in” attendees.
